Teen Magazines

Okay, this is another babbling/opinion session.

Today, i really want to talk (well, type actually) about teen magazine.

One in perspective.

Seventeen magazine.

The other day i brought one issue at CVS, thinking it would be cool to read. So i was flipping through the magazine, every page having at least one model or clothing on there, advertising it. i was disappointed, because one, these girls look absolutely fake! Why cant they show real beauty to boost non-model girls self esteem? Teen girls feel like their too ugly or fat when they see these computer skinny girls in xs clothes, glowing. it isn't right to do that.

second, instead of giving life advice, most of it was how you looked. your hair, clothes, body, makeup. i didn't see one article on life, and your true self. Thats the true key to success and belieiving in your self.

Sure, having a section for beauty products and makeup is totally fine, but the WHOLE magazine was on fashion. I didnt get excited for anything as i read it. there was nothing that stuck. Some people might feel different about it, but its my opinion. i just dont think the world should make a teen magazine based on how thin or pretty you look. it should be based on true beauty, inside AND out, and how to get through sticky situations.

One magazine, that i love, is based on life, true beauty, growth and some fashion. its Girl's Life magazine. they have articles on how to deal with life problems, boost your self esteem, show your inner beauty. i absolutely prefer it to any teen girl out there!

So any teen girl out there, when your flipping through magazines, feeling depreseed that you'll never look the way these models do, REMEMBER, they are fake!!! they use computers to give them the perfect curves, eyes, legs, etc! Remember God made you for you!
